The Dreams & Nightmares Case is a highly unique CS:GO (now CS2) weapon case released on January 20, 2022. This case contains 17 visually stunning Community-designed weapon skins that explore the contrasting themes of terrifying nightmares and vibrant dreams. It stands out in the game's history because all the skins were chosen from a massive official art contest.

As a special rare item, the Dreams & Nightmares Case drops 5 types of knives: the Butterfly Knife, Huntsman Knife, Falchion Knife, Shadow Daggers, and Bowie Knife. These knives are available in the highly coveted Gamma finishes, including the legendary Gamma Doppler, Lore, Autotronic, Black Laminate, Freehand, and Bright Water patterns.

The Dreams & Nightmares Case was added to the game on January 20, 2022, following an unprecedented community event. In July 2021, Valve announced the Dreams & Nightmares art contest with an initial prize pool of $1 million. Due to the overwhelming quality of submissions, the prize pool was increased to $1.7 million, awarding $100,000 to each of the 17 winning artists.

The case brought incredibly creative and surreal designs to the game. It introduced iconic skins like the psychedelic and aggressive AK-47 | Nightwish and the vibrant, magical MP9 | Starlight Protector. The case features 17 winning community creations separated into four rarities: 7 Mil-Spec, 5 Restricted, 3 Classified, and 2 Covert. The Covert tier is occupied by the AK-47 | Nightwish and the MP9 | Starlight Protector. Alongside these surreal firearm skins, its rare special item pool features the same highly desirable Gamma knife finishes previously seen in the Operation Riptide Case, making it an incredibly valuable container.
